Discussion

I found this feather during summer in a coastal area with rocks, houses and some small forest areas. Some of the birds I saw there were Numenius sp., Larus audouinii, Chroicocephalus ridibundus, Monticola solitarius, Upupa epops, etc (meaning there were not only sea birds). The Ebro Delta is not far from there.

Size seems a bit off, but i’m pretty sure this is from a european or (less likely) a red-necked nightjar

I have checked both can be found in the area. How can we differenciate feathers from both species?
Val
Think it’s not possible to tell them apart just from a body feather
