Discussion

Perhaps a difficult one for the experts...! We picked this up from Blackbrook bird park (near Leek in the Staffordshire Moorlands in the UK a few years ago. The park in that form closed a few years ago and now operates under a different name and with different animals/birds. In the past the park had lots of cranes, geese, ducks, pelicans, - but the feather could be anything, although it is quite distinctive... Anyone got any ideas?

Looks like a duck/goose body feather- seems like Red-breasted Goose fits. https://www.featherbase.info/en/species/Branta/ruficollis
