Discussion

This feather we found on the Czech mountain Lysá hora (1378 metres above sea) on 30/7/2017. We have no idea what it is but because it has distinctive spots running up the centre we hope that someone can help us to indentify it... Any ideas?

although it was found in the mountains it looks like the good old common buzzard

It could be... But we have hundreds of buzzard feathers and this doesn't really say 'buzzard' to us, that is why we decided to ask here... But yes it is possible... Maybe we were just hoping that we had found a feather from a species of bird which we did not have in our collection! Thank you for your response.

Certainy not from buteo buteo. This has to be from another bird, but i’m unsure which...

I think it´s a small feather under the tailfeathers.
