This feather was found in the UK in Rutland

Huh? That is definitely a strix owl feather, but it does not belong to a european species! It should probably be from an escaped falconry bird. Can you measure it? Just making sure the species is correct, though i can’t find any other possible matches from owls that belong in the genus strix.

I checked and there is a zoo in the area that only has a mottled owl (ciccaba virgata) which has similar feathers, but still a bit different. I’m not entirely sure what owl this is from..

We have had this feather for some time but have never been able to identify it - we thought it was found locally but we do visit falconry centre salthough we've never found a feather there and we do go to places near the local one where birds could have flown to. The total length of the feather is 22.5cm long x 4.5cm wide at the widest point.
